With Tourism starting to kick back into play, we are surrounded by many hotels and lodges making efforts to build back better.
One such example is Botswana’s Belmond Eagle Island Lodge, which is offering “Africa’s ultimate water-focused safari” as they look to recover from COVID-19 with a difference, focusing on a different crisis that the local communities face regularly and offering a helping hand.
Conservation efforts are big for Belmond Safaris as they continue to “tread lightly” and prove so with their awareness of “responsibility towards natural resources and the environment”.
A fantastic initiative to transport water from the lodge to the local community village of Xaxaba Island has been implemented. They have installed a Jojo tank as well as a bowser tank and regularly transport water from the lodge to the town to supply them with potable water.
In addition to this wonderful water initiative, they also offer medical assistance to the community through mobile clinics, further helping the communities to sustain themselves.
