Albin Sakeus, founder of People Tours & Safaris in Namibia, started his business with a simple dream: to work with people. The business has grown and now offers more than just airport transfers but also tours that show travellers exactly what Africa has to offer.
Q&A with Albin Sakeus
How did the idea for your business come about?
We started with a shuttle business, mainly taking people to and from the airport. Our love of nature soon inspired us to offer more to our customers who started asking how to go to different destinations within our borders.
How did you come up with the name for your company?
We love to engage with people, and people love nature. The business was born from our love for people and what nature can offer them.
Who is your ideal customer and why?
Mostly English and Spanish tourists and Spanish – our tour guides specialise in these markets.
Why do you offer the very best experience/product for your customers?
We believe in offering the best possible service, from planning to execution. Our success is shown in our client feedback where they mention their satisfaction and the quality of our tours and guides.
What is your greatest hope for your business?
To grow bigger, help create job opportunities, and contribute to tourism sustainability.
What has been the most satisfying achievement in your business?
The reviews shared by our clients.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs who want to get into tourism?
Tourism is a service industry and therefore the passion to serve is of utmost importance.
You must be a people’s person.
If you could have a do-over, what would you do differently?
I would set up a professional marketing team from the onset. We focused more on the operations side of the business at the expense of marketing.
