Travel lightly – in every sense

How did you fall in love with travelling? Curiosity drives me to explore. My first big travel experience was as an 18-year-old. After working in a factory in Germany, I saved enough money to do an inter-rail trip across Europe. Curiosity is still the driving force behind my travels.

What kind of traveller are you? Non-planned, non-hotel, non-5-star, non-solo, museum-loving- foodie traveller.

What’s your travel philosophy? What’s around the corner?

What are your top travel essentials? I like a good guidebook. Don’t usually need much else.

Where was your most memorable trip? Recently, a road trip through Chilean Patagonia. But, they are all memorable. I don’t have a bucket list of travel destinations.

How has travelling changed your life? Coming home always makes me appreciate what an awesome country South Africa is.

When borders open again and the world starts to return to ‘a new normal’ what’s your first travel destination on your list? Zimbabwe.

Best travel advice you can share? Travel lightly – in every sense.
