Daniella Galanta – Digital Marketing and Creative Manager RX Africa

I am the type of traveller who likes to go out in the city – trying different food, different cultures and seeing the tourist hotspots.

Since joining RX Africa as senior digital marketing executive in 2017, Daniella Galante has been responsible for digital content creation and implementation on WTM Africa, Africa Travel Week and FAME Week Africa.

In March 2022 Daniella became the proud recipient of the 2022 UFI Next Generation Leadership (NGL) Grant. The NGL Grant is a talent acceleration programme which rewards young professionals in the exhibitions industry who have shown clear initiative in driving change and innovation. In May she was promoted to digital marketing and creative manager, capping a remarkable month for her career.

Daniella’s passion for events started when she was at university organising all on-campus events, as part of the student body. With a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and an honours degree in BCOM Business Management from the University of South Africa in hand, she went on to do an internship at one of South Africa’s biggest youth radio stations, 5FM.

Here she worked on music festivals and events around the country before moving into PR planning and organising product launches, red carpet events and activations for some of Africa’s biggest brands and high-profile personalities.

During her five years at RX Africa, she has had the privilege of working across a variety of industries including décor and design, food and beverage, health and fitness, travel and tourism, and film and music.

Tell us 3 words that you feel describe you well

Ambitious, empathetic and motivated.

What kind of traveller are you?

I am the type of traveller who likes to go out in the city – trying different food, different cultures and seeing the tourist hotspots. The best part about travelling is experiencing different cultures, learning new words in different languages and enjoying food where the locals do.

Tell us about one of your most memorable trips/travel moments. Where and why?

My most memorable trip was recently when I went to Poland. It had been years since I last travelled abroad. It is always fun experiencing different food, languages and culture. The people are so warm and hospitable. I was able to learn about their beautiful history and understand how they are assisting the Ukrainian refugees – it was so heart-warming and inspiring. It is also a really affordable European country to visit as a South Africa.

What is your all-time favourite destination in Africa? Why?

My favourite destination in Africa has to be Cape Town. Cape Town is just breathtakingly beautiful – with the mountains and ocean view – nothing can beat it! There is also so much to do – from hiking up Lion’s head to wine tasting, bar hopping, food experiences and adventure activities!

Based on the five senses and thinking about travelling what do you…

  • Like to see: people and places
  • Like to taste: traditional food and drinks
  • Like to feel: the sun on my skin and sand under my feat
  • Like to hear: local music and the hustle and bustle
  • Like to Smell: different foods

What unique qualities do you believe women bring to the workplace?

We can be ambitious and nurturing at the same time. We can be bosses and moms – bringing the best qualities from both sides.

Tell us about something you’re proud of achieving

In March this year I was selected to be part of the 2022 UFI Next Generation Leadership (NGL) Grant. The NGL Grant is a talent acceleration programme which rewards young professionals in the exhibitions industry who have shown clear initiative in driving change and innovation.

Tell us about one woman in business that you admire

We are all so different and all have so many unique attributes that we bring to the team – I admire all our team members. We have two remarkable women leading us by example – Megan de Jager and Carol Weaving.
