WTM Africa: Where to stay and how to get around

Our guide to getting you there and back…

So, you’ve got your ticket to Africa Travel Week 2022. But what about a place to stay, and how best to get around Cape Town?

If you haven’t ticked all the logistical boxes on your trade show to-do list, here are our recommendations for local hotels and transport nodes:

Suggested hotels for WTM Africa:

Southern Sun Cape Sun

Location: 23 Strand St, Cape Town City Centre

Distance from the CTICC: 1.7 km

Situated in the heart of the Mother City, this hotel has earned a stellar reputation by delegates needing quick and easy access to the CTICC. The location is excellent, and the views are tough to beat: Table Mountain, Robben Island, or Table Bay.

The Cullinan

Location: 1 Cullinan St, Cape Town City Centre

Distance from CTICC:  1.0 km

Being so close to the CTICC, this luxury hotel wins first prize for location – but that’s if you’d like to position yourself amongst the bustle of the city. Popular with delegates, The Cullinan needs little introduction to visitors coming from abroad.

The Vineyard Hotel

Location: Colinton Road, Newlands

Distance from CTICC: 12.3 km

This luxury hotel is tucked just below Table Mountain’s slopes in Newlands. Expect several award-winning restaurants on-site, together with a range of world-class facilities. A great choice during Africa Travel Week 2022, should you prefer to stay a little further from the city sounds.

Hotel Sky Cape Town

Location: 9 Lower Long Street, Cape Town

Distance from CTICC: 1.4 km

Hitting just the right balance between tech and travel, this digitally-savvy hotel is guaranteed to make your stay an absolute game-changer. In between your time at the show, keep an ear out for the digital grand piano that plays your requests.

The Westin Hotel

Location: Convention Square, Lower Long St, Cape Town,

Distance from the CTICC: 100 m

The Westin Hotel has long been a favourite haunt for delegates heading to the CTICC. Being that this 5-star is located right next door, it’s easy to see why. Expect to have all the mod cons you could want and need during your visit to Cape Town.

Suggested modes of transport:

If you need to hire your own car, there are plenty of options located on arrival at Cape Town International Airport. Local car companies to contact directly and in advance include:

Your hotel concierge will also be able to help, and in general, most hotels offer complimentary shuttle services into the city. This is likely the most efficient and hassle-free way to get to and from the CTICC.

Suggested Flights:

There are multiple local and international flights in and out of Cape Town International Airport, South Africa’s newest airline, LIFT, recently partnered with WTM Africa 2022, which means invited exhibitors and attendees will receive a 10% discount when booking their flights.

Like any event, there’s the important stuff to consider to make your experience as seamless as possible. If you’re looking for restaurants to try during your time at the show, we’ve created a shortlist for those here
