Get your LGBTQ+ travellers on the Glitter Trail

Looking for something new to offer your LGBTQ+ clients during their upcoming holiday in South Africa? Give them a nudge to embark on the Glitter Trail – touted as the ‘best gay party South Africa has ever seen’.

Glitter Trial

Launched through Afrigay Tours, The Glitter Trail consists of a 9-day journey from Johannesburg to Cape Town with plenty of pitstops at some of the country’s most charming cities and dorpies (towns) – 13 to be exact!

With queer guests encouraged to pack their party shoes, sense of adventure and humour, the route is brimming with local treasures hidden within iconic regions like the Winelands, Klein Karoo, and Garden Route. The accommodation is thoughtful too, with hand-picked hotels welcoming LGBTQ+ travellers with open arms.

Glitter Trail

As for the transport, those interested will step aboard a dedicated luxury tour bus decked out in, you guessed it, glitter! As well as plenty of ‘pink-paraphernalia’, including an oh-so-fabulous disco ball. It also features all the mod cons to make for a comfortable trip, along with a few surprises thrown into the mix (bottomless bubbly for all!).

The most important part about the Glitter Trail is that it’s 100% LGBTQ-friendly, allowing travellers within this community to feel at ease, and enjoy the experience alongside like-minded individuals. Aside from all the fun and festivities, the tour is well planned and organised, with a dedicated and professional guide to keep everyone on schedule.

A few Glitter Trail highlights include:

  • An Urban Jozi LGBTQ+ Heritage Tour
  • A visit to the Owl House and Helen Martins Museum in Nieu-Bethesda
  • A stop in at Redberry Farm for strawberry picking in George
  • An immersive tour of Highgate Ostrich Farm in Oudtshoorn, with dinner at Pepper Tree
  • Wine and beer tasting at Barrydale in the Klein Karoo
  • A return ride on Table Mountain’s Aerial Cableway
  • Dinner and a show at Beefcakes in Cape Town

The Glitter Trail currently offers three scheduled departures for 2022: 29 Sept – 8 Oct, 10 – 19 Nov, and 21–11 Feb, with more dates planned in the near future.
