Johannesburg, South Africa – Joburg Tourism Company (JTC) is excited to be participating at this year’s edition of WTM Africa, taking place from 10-12 April 2024 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
Located at stand S05 in Hall 4, the JTC stand includes six Joburg SMMEs, operating in the travel and tour operating space, namely Sowetoo, Incredible Tours, Incredible Tours & Travel, Orlando Hotel, Boyang Gape Tours & Travel, Honest Travel Experiences and Zuri Destination Marketing & Travel.
“JTC’s participation at this strategic platform serves as another effort to claim a competitive advantage for the city, influencing not only the choice of the destination for tourists, but also their levels of satisfaction,” explains JTC CEO, Thandubuhle Mgudlwa. “The WTM Africa trade exhibition allows for face to face interactions with the targeted and trade to promote the destination, create brand awareness and correct destination misconceptions to better inform travel decisions.”
Mirrored on WTM flagship events WTM London and the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai, WTM Africa delivers a mix of hosted buyers, media, pre-scheduled appointments, on-site networking, evening functions and invited travel trade visitors. WTM Africa 2023 welcomed over 5 000 registered visitors. They had access to 577 exhibitors from 49 new countries, 200 expert speakers and over 80 hours of content sessions across the three-day African travel and tourism trade show.
Nearly two thirds (63%) of this year’s buyers are new to the show, strongly representing markets such as Malaysia, Pakistan, Thailand, Philippines, Romania, Armenia, San Marino and Uzbekistan, while the repeat buyers represent key source markets. Additionally, 9 200 appointments have been prescheduled, which is a 35% increase from 2022 event.
