Are you a tourism partner that is passionate about Cape Town and the Western Cape? Do you possess captivating stories, stunning visuals, or informative guides that can ignite the interest of food enthusiasts, golfers, Muslim visitors, and sustainable travellers? 

Be a part of promoting the best that Cape Town and the Western Cape has to offer by contributing content to our Destination Playbooks.

What are Destination Playbooks?

Destination Playbooks are intended to be all-encompassing guides for the tourism industry as well as leisure and business tourists. Through thoughtfully curating a publication per theme with the help of those that know their region best, the playbooks will showcase the finest golf, gastronomy, halal, and sustainability experiences on offer in the destination. Ultimately, we aim to provide travellers with a comprehensive resource, ensuring their visit is enriching, unforgettable, and keeps them returning for more.

Through your help, we’re looking to create a guide that is inclusive of all the world-class experiences on offer in the Cape.

How can you be a part of this journey?

We are seeking captivating digital assets – including high-resolution images, videos, blogs, unique itineraries, and easy to use maps. These assets will be featured across various platforms including social media, digital marketing materials, and print, benefiting both tourism businesses and travellers.

To begin with, we’re calling on content submissions around the following four experiences:

  1. Golf: The Western Cape boasts an array of globally renowned golf courses, each with its own unique charm and challenge. Golf transcends beyond a sport; it’s an experience that celebrates the synergy of nature, heritage, and the joy of play. Please share with us information and assets on the province’s world-class golf courses and golf related activities.
  2. Gastronomy: Cape Town and the Western Cape is a foodie mecca. With award-winning restaurants and iconic vineyards, help us to spotlight the destination’s culinary delights, local cuisines, food festivals, and dining experiences.
  3. Halal: Halal in the Western Cape is more than a dietary preference; it’s an experience that caters to discerning palates whilst adhering to Islamic guidelines. Catering to the needs of Muslim travellers, this section will feature Halal certified dining options, prayer facilities, and Halal-friendly experiences.
  4. Sustainability: Sustainability is at the heart of the Western Cape’s travel experiences, with a commitment from the local industry to safeguard our natural resources and contribute respectfully to our unique communities. It covers a broad range of initiatives and actions that advance the overall well-being of the environment, society, culture, and economy. Help us in sharing unique experiences, that will entice the environmentally and socially conscious traveller to explore our regions.

Content guidelines:

  • High-resolution images: We are seeking product images with a resolution of 5MB or higher per image.
  • Immersive videos: We are in search of immersive 2-minute videos, (please omit voice-overs). The videos should vividly capture distinct experiences, and captivating cultural events.

Through supporting this initiative, you’ll be helping Wesgro, along with our tourism industry partners, promote our beautiful destination domestically and globally.

To ensure proper attribution and legal usage, we kindly request your permission to use the digital assets you share. To ensure compliant usage of content, please confirm that you are the owner of all assets submitted. 

Together, let’s showcase the best our destination has to offer, by creating a bespoke playbook that inspires travel and fosters unforgettable memories.

1) By responding to our call to action, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute your unique insights and ideas to our playbook (hereinafter referred to digital material contribution). Here’s how you can get involved:

2) Create and submit valuable content that aligns with the theme and purpose of the playbook. Wesgro will not accept any of the following prohibited digital material contributions. Content that:

  • Depicts minor persons;
  • May reasonably be interpreted to infringe on an individual’s right to privacy or other constitutional rights;
  • May reasonably be interpreted to be offensive, defamatory, pornographic or discriminatory in nature or may promote mental harm; and/or
  • Contains content related to individual trademarks, logos or other distinguishable corporate marks.

3) By making a digital material contribution to the contents of the playbook, you confirm that you are the rightful owner of the digital material contribution and that you have obtained all the necessary licenses and permissions to grant us the right to use and share the content on various platforms. You will be required to confirm this on submission of your digital material contribution via the Wesgro portal.

Please note that your digital material contribution may be shared on websites, social media platforms, print materials, and other communication channels associated with Wesgro where third parties will have access to your digital material contribution, and it will become part of the public domain. You will be required to release your digital material contribution to Wesgro on an open licensing basis, free of charge and indefinite, subject to the condition that Wesgro may in return make your digital material contribution available freely to third parties on the same basis

Africa Travel Week

Africa Travel Week (ATW) focuses on inbound and outbound markets for general leisure tourism, luxury travel, LGBTQ+ travel and the MICE/business travel sector as well as travel technology. Shows include: ILTM Africa, WTM Africa, EQUAL Africa, ibtm AFRICA, Travel Forward, Sports & Events Tourism Exchange and African Tourism Investment Summit.
