The city of Cape Town launched the first issue of This is Cape Town magazine now available free of charge at international airports in South Africa and digitally via targeted social campaigns to Europe, The Americas and Australia.

This is Cape Town covers stories of people visiting, living, working, playing, studying and investing in a place they love! Creative people + places. Artists + designers. Architects. Photographers. Makers. Doers. Wanderers. People who dream big dreams and small dreams. People who love where they are, what they are doing or where they are going – the magazine captures the essence of quintessential Cape Town.
The magazine is self-funded, and printed in limited quantities for initial distribution via international airport lounges with expansion plans into Africa and in-flight. The first issue (Spring/Summer 2023) was released on 13 September 2023.
‘If you travel a lot, we have a lot of interesting things to see and do in Cape Town, we’d like you to experience them, have fun, meet our incredible people, perhaps check out some study and investment opportunities too. For starters, why not work from Cape Town? Whilst you’re here, have a thrilling adventure experience, we have lots for every taste,” says James Vos, the Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth which includes Place Marketing, Cape Town.
A key feature of This is Cape Town magazine is its visual approach to storytelling through photography. It is published in limited print and primarily distributed via digital channels directly by the city.
In the first issue, spring/summer 2023, This is Cape Town looks at attracting Digital Nomads; the Cruise ship rebound; The making of a market city; reasons to invest in Cape Town; Cape Town’s arts & culture scene Ballet & Opera; building the best catamarans in the world; the shift to sustainable energy and much, much more. Its international focus brings a travel component to the storytelling, and while it is not a travel magazine, it does showcase this beautiful and exciting destination where its story subjects live, work and play.
Geordin Hill-Lewis, Executive Mayor of Cape Town is proud to announce the availability of the premier issue of This is Cape Town magazine says “It’s attention grabbing, informative, exciting, a must read for everyone!”
A second issue, autumn/winter 2024, will be released in April 2024.
