What do you love most about Africa?

I love the uniqueness, authenticity, the fact that Africa has 11 official languages, the different African cultural foods, and the humbleness of Africans.

Where are you heading in 2021? What adventures await you?

Initially, I had planned to travel internationally to Europe. But after being locked down within our country, I’ve had time to research the hidden gems of South Africa and many interesting places in Central Africa. As such, I have decided to plan 2021 travel in Africa – first to Namibia and then to the island of Mauritius.

What are you looking forward to the most regarding ATW/WTM Africa 2021?

I am definitely looking forward to being onsite again, the face-to-face interactions and watching how the safety protocols will unfold. Lastly, because we never got to host the Responsible Tourism Awards in 2020, I am looking forward to seeing our first ever Responsible Travel Africa Awards take place.

Who are you looking forward to seeing at the show, be it physically or virtually?

Most definitely our speakers (from all our planned event theatres).

Based on your 5 senses what are you looking forward to the most during the live show?

I’m looking forward to seeing: Happy faces interacting once again and how will the new rules regarding COVID-19 will be implemented.

I’m looking forward to tasting: The food at The Gold Restaurant (our Awards dinner will be hosted there).

I’m looking forward to feeling:  Just the good energy.

I’m looking to hearing: The on-site buzz and new initiatives that have launched during COVID-19

I’m looking forward to smelling: The fresh Cape breeze!

What are your top tips for others attending the show in 2021?

  • My advice is to look out for media/email updates regarding the show.
  • Always stay up to date regarding COVID-19 status updates and news.
  • Pack some warm clothes because Cape Town tends to get quite chilly in April as winter gradually approaches.
  • Make time to explore and indulge in some sight-seeing.
  • Always pre-arrange your travel requirements, especially transport, for safety and security reasons.

Where can we find you at the show?

With all the onsite events happening in 2021, I will be championing our Responsible Tourism Awards 2021 and our African Tourism Investment Summit.
