Red Carnation Hotels Appoints Philisiwe Gumede General Manager of The Oyster Box

The Oyster Box one of South Africa’s most celebrated five-star hotels and a proud member of The Red Carnation Hotel Collection, is delighted to announce the appointment of Philisiwe Gumede as its new General Manager.

Returning to her KwaZulu-Natal roots, where she was born and educated, Gumede brings over 24 years of local and international experience across the hospitality, tourism, retail and healthcare sectors. Her career spans a series of managerial roles at prominent brands such as Sun International, Bidvest Prestige and Peermont Global.

A dynamic and results-driven leader, Gumede is known for her strategic vision, operational excellence, and people-centred leadership. She is currently completing her MBA in business administration and is passionate about driving business transformation, enhancing customer experience and fostering meaningful stakeholder engagement.
