Martha van der Westhuizen opened Vinkie’s Tourism Enterprise, an eco-tourism venture, this year. The company looks to offer traditional bush experiences on the ǂKhomani San farm of Witdraai. Guests can enjoy guided day trips and heritage tours all while staying in tented bush camps. Vinkie’s Tourism Enterprise will tailor-make tours with care and attention to detail.

How did the idea for your business come about?
I was working as a tour guide since 2004.
Who is your ideal customer and why?
International groups.
Why do you offer the very best experience/product for your customers?
It’s a unique Kalahari bushman experience.
What is your greatest hope for your business?
To see the business, grow bigger.
What has been the most satisfying achievement in your business?
Seeing our daily tours take shape and come to life!
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs who want to get into tourism?
Have patience and share your culture and heritage.
If you could have a do-over, what would you do differently?
I would like to have had some training in finance to control the system better.
