Wasafiri Destinations, Safari Planning Mobile App

Joseph Kay Sanna saw an opportunity and went for it! Wasafiri Destinations (from the Swahili word for ‘travellers’) is a mobile app that provides travellers with a personal safari planning solution. A destination marketplace, which showcases both suppliers and products in the tourism industry, Wasafiri allows users to create itineraries – and to book and pay all in one place.

Q&A with Joseph Kay Sanna

How did the idea for your business come about?

From the desire to enhance safaris and holiday experiences in Africa and increase consumption at lower costs through available digital technology.

How did you come up with the name for your company?

We’re offering an easy user experience through mobile devices …  hence the Safari Planning Mobile Application

Who is your ideal customer and why?

Millennials. They seek authentic experiences and do most of their searches online using mobile devices before booking travel & tourism products and experiences.

Why do you offer the very best experience/product for your customers?

We value our customers and are keen to retain their unwavering loyalty to encourage repeat business and ensure the sustainability of our offering.

What is your greatest hope for your business?

To satisfy and exceed our customers’ expectations and aspirations in a sustainable fashion.

What has been the most satisfying achievement in your business?

Creating the first-in-market travel tech app to serve the Africa Safari marketplace.

What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs who want to get into tourism?

Always try to be the best at what you do. Everything else will fall in place as a result of your excellence.

If you could have a do-over, what would you do differently?

Procrastination has occasionally been a weakness on my part. I would try to get on with things in a timelier manner!
